Respected teachers and friends. Technology is the story of human problem-solving. From the printing press to the smartphone, every major tool has expanded what ordinary people can learn, create, and share. Today, technology shapes education, healthcare, farming, finance, and entertainment. Online classrooms connect students across distances. Digital payments move money in seconds. Navigation apps reduce uncertainty. Medical devices detect conditions earlier than before. These are not small conveniences — they change life outcomes. Yet every powerful tool asks for responsibility. Excessive screen time can weaken focus. Misinformation can travel faster than facts. Automation can disrupt jobs that families depend on. Cybersecurity failures can expose private data. Technology is never neutral; it reflects the intentions and skills of the people who design and use it. So what should we do? First, become skilled users — not passive consumers. Learn how systems work at a basic level. Second, practise digital ethics: verify information, respect privacy, and speak online with the same dignity you would use face to face. Third, keep human strengths sharp: critical thinking, empathy, creativity, and clear communication. Machines can process; humans must still decide what matters. For students, the opportunity is enormous. You can build apps, analyse data, design content, or use AI to practise languages and presentations. But tools cannot replace discipline. A laptop without focus is only a glowing distraction. Let us welcome technology as a partner in progress — and remain the authors of how it is used.
